The sudden rise in exchange has again put a temporary check to business in the lopal market. Prospective buyers are holding off, |27| bat at the same time there is no great disposition on the part of holders to sell, and unless exchange declines, we fear we aball see another dall period. BANKS-No business is reported during the weck in Brugkeng and Shanghai Bank sharer. Owing to the exchange, this stock has dropped to a selling quotation of $650.
MARINE & FIRE INSURANCES.-Small salẹn 1 are taken place of Dulone at $800 and Cantons at $325. No th Chiras are wanted at Tia. 120 and Hongkong Fires at $310. Yingfree are etaier at Shangbai $205 (Ezoh: 73) sellers. Chias Fires could probably be pieced at $131.
SHIPPING Deferred Indo-Chinas have declined, and business has been done over at $113. At the close there are bayers at this rate. Preferred shares are still wanted at $33.
