Wednesday, 20th September, 1872.
Before me, James Henry Grimes, sworn deponent, I Inspector of Police at past 4 p.m. this day I was requested to attend on board the British Contract Mail Packet "Bombay" in this harbor. I proceeded there and the Defendant, which I produce, was handed over to me with the Warrant by Sir Edmund Hornby, Chief Judge of the Supreme Court for China and Japan.
The Bombay arrived from Mottohama last night and the Defendant states that he is a Native of Penang.
Case to be referred to His Excellency the Governor. "Vide Clause 112 of the China and Japan Order in Council of 1865, and Defendant to be detained until His Excellency's pleasure is known, not exceeding three months.

I boy, stater, after the case is closed that the Defendant served 3 years imprisonment under Consular warrant, dated 11th April, 1870.
