A report has been issued of the work of the Central Advisory Council of Training for: the Ministry during the firet foar years of its existence. Though the inspection of theological colleges has had to be suspended since war broke out owing to the reduction in the number of studente, the Council has been able to supply to the bishops a list of colleges which it recommende for recognition by them. Rewards for Bravery. James Alfred Cox, a compositor employed by the Times, was pre- aented with * certificate on parchment by the acting super- intendent at Hackney Police Station for saving the life of Reginald Springett, aged 10, of Forest Gate, on July 14. Mr. Cox was bathing in the Hollow Pond, Leytonstone, when be was informed that a boy was drown- ing. He dived into about it, of· water, and after 10 minutes' - search released the boy from the elime at the bottom of the pond. He then set to work to restore the bay to consciousness, and succeeded only after half an bour's strennons exertion) At Kingstone Mr. Albert B. Ohly, of“ River Bank, East Molesey, and Mr. Arthur J. Harvey, of Wimble- dop, were presented, with the: certificate of the Royal Humane Society for bravery in attempting to save the life of Mr. Charles Whatford, boat builder, who had lost control of his hand-propelled trioggle ́and bad fallen into the river at Molesey. Mr. Price, oksirman of the Kingaton county magistrates, who made the pre sentation, said that Mr. Whitford was a cripple, aged 72. Mr. Ohly and Mr. Harvey, without taking f any of their clothing, dived fter him, and, although the water: was very deep and there was a}} strong flood stream, aucceeded inv extricating him from the orclevi ohair to which he was strapped and bringing him ashore, Mris Whatford was then alive, but
