The estimated production in the Levant and Central Asia in 1910 remains the same as the definite total for 1915, though it may be sesunied that the estimate is only conjctural, having regard to the impossibility of forming anything like a definito satima'te in circum glances existing in most of the countries included in this group, The production in the Far Esat in 1916 in estimated at 1,173,000| kilogrammes more than in 1915, by far the greatest proportion of the increase being contributed by Japan, although the exports from Indineret an important figure -show's considerable increase, The estimated, total output of raw⠀⠀ wilk in 1816 is higher than that of any previous year, with the exception of 1912 and 1913. It will thus be seen that, in spite of all difficulties, the prodnation and export of silk throughout the world is being satisfactorily maintained.
