Ready and Anxious for a Decisive Battle,
London, August 9. According to Realer's "correspondent at Paris, Le Journal correspondent, who has been visiting the British Fleet, says: The spectacle is so rast that the eye canna take in the whole panorama at one glance. Important new units are massed ready to spring on the enemy should the latter issn from his lair. The Fleet constitutes a weapon and force which stuns imagination. The soul. of the British Navy harbours but one aspiration and one determina- tion-to meet the Garmin once again face to face in a decisive battle from which the victor will only, return. The Aet will not hesitate to ras great risks to account for the enemy when the fight COL88. The officers are of opinion generally that the Germans when beaten on land will not allow the war to finish without at aking their all and accepting a great naval battle.
THE STOCKHOLM CONFERENCE.
British Miners Postpone Decision,
· Loudon, August 9. The Minets Federation Executiva last evening postponed their decision relative to the Stockholm Conferanos until the Labour Party Executive's report is announced, at to-morrow's conference. The miners will then more the adjournment of the Conference to give the delegates an opportunity to consult their associations.
It is expected that the Seamen's Conference in London oa August 17, which is expected to resolve to prevent the Socialist delegated going to Stockholm, will include representatives from Eo'land, Scandinavia, the British Colonies and the United States.
The conference of the Allies at Downing Street was closed, but it is understood that the question of the Stockholm Conference was discussed.

In the House of Commons, replying to Sir Robert E, Mr. Roberts, representing the Board of Trade, eaid the stocks of China tea in the United Kingdom bonded warehouses on July 31 totailed 7,207,000 1b, The Board of Trade had issui instructions for the release of the tea detained owing to the absence of import licences.
Replying to Mr. Gershom Stewart, Mr. Roberis said the refusal of the Board of Trade to allow delivery of certain shipments of tea bought and paid for by British merchants in China before the date of the prohibition of imports was due to the fact that the consign. ments were not shown as being paid for by the importers or as having been in transport before the prohibition. He was not yet satisfied that the consignments were entitled to admission by reference to the circumstances of payment or despatch, but the consignments were released in view of the price of tes and ita tendency to deteriorate by keeping.

According to Router's correspondent at Melbourae, in the House of Espressantives, the Treasurer, dir John Forrest, introducing the Badget, stated that the cereaus last year amounted to £107,888,000 including war loans of £70,844,000. The expenditure totalled £88,032,000, inslading war excenditate of £81,508,000. He estimated that an additional Income Tax of ten per cent, with a miniumum of $10 on single men and childless widowers between 21 and 45 who had not enlisted, would produce half-s-million for the current yöar.
