Arrest of a Pseudo-Emperor. General Ma Fahsiang. Com- mander of troops in Ningaha, has telegraphically reported to the Chinese Ministry of War the arreat of a bandit chief named Wa Shen hwang and bie gang of three bandred. The bandit chief called 'bimself, an emperor, and he had a court suite consist- ing of a Chief of General Staf and other cfficers. He was plot- ting to establish a dynasty of himself when his arrestas made. General Ma reported that the said bandit chief and site- teen of hia prominent followers have been sentenced to death and four sentenced to life imprison ment. The bandit headquarters in Ningabs were destroyed and precautions have been taken to prevent bis followere, who have escaped, from creating 'further | trouble.—Peking Daily News."
