A vote of $12,000 for a Police Station at Yau-ma-tei, a flourishing village on the West coast of British Kowloon, was passed inasmuch as the present Police Station is almost useless owing to its position. I shall make a further report on this subject when I am prepared to state the exact cost of the proposed work.

In conclusion, I have to state that although $25,000 has been voted for improving the Water Supply, I am not yet in a position to explain how that sum can best be expended, but that something is required in the division indicated is a subject of very general complaint.

I trust that with these explanations together with those furnished by the Acting Auditor General, Your Lordship will be able to approve of the Ordinance and lay it before Her Majesty for gracious confirmation.
