SHARE REPORT.
Messrs. Benjamin and Potts, in their report, dated Friday, the 18th of February, state:---
During the week ander review, the volume of business put through on the looal market, though small, shows an improvement. Invent ment slooks continue to be offered at átiraotive rates, on scoount of the high exchange, whilst the business done in apocalative stocks has been more.or less on Settlement Account.
The Shanghai market is stagnant owing to the tightness of money and high exchange, and very few transactions are recorded. Plantation rabber is stronger again, and at the close comes through at 3/41⁄2 per lb., market firm.
BANKS.-Hongkong & Shanghai Banks have declined to a calling rate of $315, a small busines having been done at this, MARINE & FIRE INSURANCES.-Insurance shares remain neglected, and with the exception of some sales of Unions at $900, no businem is reported. Hongkong Fires oan be obtained at $3673, and Cantons at $875, and probably lees would be accepted.
SHIPPING.-Dongianos, kave farther declined to ŷ114, at which rate sales have been made. Delarred Indos have been pissed down to $127 for the Settlement, but close sironger with buyers at $128, Star Ferries are wanted at $33, whilst Steamboats have bayers at $19, ex the dividend lately paid of $1:25.
REFINERIES-China Sagara owing to rumours of a small dividend have declined to a selling quotation of $120, and business has en done at skin and under for the Settlement. There in however no foundation for the ramours, as, until the accounts sya made up, it is impossible tá know or state what the dividend will be. Malabons have changed hands as low as $38, and more abates can be obtained at
