the privilege of the Bank of Com. 89052 munications, acting as the Go- 89038 vernment Treseury was discussed 74176 at a meeting of the Cabinet yea- terday. According to the Chinese newspapers, owing to various difficulties, including the large sum owed by the Government to the Bank, the cancellation of this privilege cannot at present be effected. It is proposed, how- sver, to clear off this debt as soon as poraible, after which the Bank will become purely a commercial enterprise.
