Britain's Largest Motor Ship.

A very satisfactory trial run was carried out by the Glanamey (the new Glen Finer) from Glasgow around the North of Ecotland to- the Thames. The vessel, which, by the way, was only completed recently by Mesars. Harland and Wolff, of Gova", was orisinally ordered by Mesura. Elder Damp ster and Co., and was purchased by the Glen Line before comple- tion. She is 435 feet in length by 57 ft 7 in, beam and has a dead- weih carrying capacity of about 10,300 tons The Glenamoy is the largest British-built or British- owned Diesel-engined meich, at ship. The propelling machinery consists of two six-cylinde four cycle Burmeister and Wain sets of 1870 hp, giving a tot:l power of 3,603 ib.r. Power is developed at about 110 r.p.m. On light drau ht the ship attained a speed of well over. 12 knots, and on service the average speed will, no doubt, be about 11 kants. The interesting to note is the sixth set: Messrs. Burmeister and Wain Oil Engine Co., of Glasgow, have completed for large full powered motor ships.
