Peking, Jan. An important meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance yesterday to discuss e schem3 proposed by Dr Ober Chin-tao for the establish ment of
uniform National Treasury sys. oem in order to overcome the io tenvenience of the prezent system, whereby, in many provinces, thr furetions of the National Treasury are entrusted to native banks.

Pay for Indian Army. The Government of Ladia, with the approval of the Skeretary of Stats, kas sanctioned new rates of ordinary retiring and special pensions for the combatant ranks of the Indian Army with effect from the 4th August, 1914 new crdinary rates are as follow:- Soware Sapoys and others ranking as such, R5 and Rs 6 per month after 15 and 18 years service ra-` spectiv.ly. Lance Dafadara Nsicks and others ranking as such, R. 8 per month after 18 years service. Daladars vildare and othere renting as such, Rs 9 and 11 per month after 18 and 20 years servic) respectively. Jema- dara Ra 24 and 30 per month after 20 and 24
yeare service respectively. Risaldar - Mjwa, Sabatara Major, Rinaldare Kos saidas or Subadars, R-4), 43 and 55 after 21, 24 and 28 years service respectively.
