Good Work by Armoured Cars.
January 14, 1.25 p.m. Acording to Reater's correspondent in Esst Afrios, light armoured card came in contact with the enemy on January 3, and, though plastered with mscline-gan ballets, did great execution. They silenced the enemy'e fire, bus were crentaully forced to retire, owing to wrecked radiator and boiling in the tanks. There were no casualties amongst the crews.

The Swedish steamer Ingeborg from England arrived at Gothenburg, and reported that she had been stopped in the North Sea by a German submarine, which ordered that the 700 sacks of mail destined for Allied countries should be thrown into the sea, otherwise they threatened to take the Ingeborg to Germany.

A General's Recognition.
Petrograd, January 14. General Dmitrieff, in an order to the troops participating in the successful offensive on the Riga front, says: "Epow and frost made impassable, the marshes, but did not check your ardour. Alter long hand to hand fighting, you pierced the marshes and fortifications, which the enemy had been con- structing for fifteen months, and, despite the fire of hundreds of machine guns, you cleared a passage in awe-inspiring silence with the bayonet, thus economixing thousands of ` shells. General Dozitrief recapitulates the fact that the booty included 30 guns, 50,000 uniforms, 15,000 rifles. 20 kitchens, ...and 10,000 battles of brandy.
