The Late Mr. Currie. In Mr. Andrew Carris, of the Borneo Company, whose death -occurred at home on October 2, there passed away an old resident of Singapore who, in his day, did much to further the welfare of the Colony, says the Straits Times He came to Singapore for tha| Borneo Company in the sixties, and remained' for twenty yöRTU, being local manager of the com- pany for some years prior to his departure. Always taking a keen interest in public affairs, be wa6 member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Legislative Council. In 1821 Mr. Ourzis became manager of the Borneo Company in London, holding the position until recently, when he had to retire on account of failing health. He re-visited Singapore in 1899 and again in 1913.
