Our local market during the past week has shown more signs of life, and there has been a larger volume of business put through. In the speculative quarter, Investment stocks are still in demand, but there is very little inclination to sell, and the demand is unsatisfied
prices have been well maintained, and at the cloes the market is firm with, if anything, an upward tendency. In the North, the feature of She week has been the demand for and consequent advance in cotton shares. Owing to a bumper crop in China and the bigh prios of Am-: erican cotton, the prospects for China cotton mills are excellent, and we expect to see a gradual improvement in all Ootton shares. Ewos have been dona at Tix. 154, and more shares are wanted at this rate. Shanghai Cottons have had a smart rise to Tis, 105, at which rate ¿ more shares are wanted. Yangiesepoos have been in good demand locally, and have changed hande up to Tia. 5 whilst Kangyiks have been done at Tia 141 coil, and Tia. 14.90 December: Shanghai Dooks remain the ame with bayern nå Tis. 85... Langkats have been done at Tia, 25 and the market closes with buyers at this rato." Rubber shares in the North remain steady, with a fair basinom prasing. Anglo- Jazan have boyers at Tla. 121, or the dividend of 25 Cents paid on the 10th instant. The Bingspore market keeps firm, with a good demand for the favourite investment stocks. The price of the raw material is 2/51 per lb.
