The text of a communiqus iesaed by General Sir Donglas Haig is as follows:-There was heavy rain during the night, during which the enemy continuously counter attacked, but the New Zealanders repulsed the attackers with severe enemy losses. There in a large number of dead in front of our lines.
Notwithstanding this heavy fighting, we advanced our front in this neigh bourbood. We entered enemy trenches in other portions of the front during the night.
