B-ferring to a pro- posed agreement with the striking employees, the advertisement read: "If, by Wednesday morn- ing Angust 2, the Union shall not have recognized the agree- ment as mad," etc., instead of made.-Exchange.
Duel Between Old -Men. Hammond, Ind., July 22- James Alfonzo, 75 years old, and Gatova Gantsle, 72, fought a doel with stilettos in a box car on the Chicago, Indians and Southern Railroad here early to-day. Both men are so seriously wounded they may die. Nearly 60 years ago the men were in love with a Italian girl in Bardinis. They were called to war and when they returned home the girl was dead, Their paths separated and the men had not seen each other sinos until they mei here as track labourers.
The Shanghai Optum Combine Peking, September 7.-The Shanghai Opium Combine has naked for an extension of the sgreement with the Chiness GOT. ernmen by nine months, on the ground that the monarchical movement bas hindered the opiam business. The Ministry of Finance has despatched a special delegate to Shanghai to consult with the Combine on this question. At a Cabinet meeting it was resolved that there should be na extension of the agreement. Special measures of extension aro to be adopted in the suppression of opium in Yannan and Kani- ohow provinces.

Revolutionists,
The Government has been con- sidering a number of plans re- garding the treatment to be meted out to the revolutionists. The suggestions made by the leading men in Shanghai include s proposal to treat them in three different ways, that is, (1) to send those who have had some military training or education to military schools, the work of ex- amining and assigning them to | different schools to be done by the Ministry of War; (2) to send those who bave graduated from a high school to finish thair_uduostion abroad, the work to be done under the Ministry of Education; and |(3) to grant a bonus and pssange "money to those who are neither | trained soldiers nor ednosted, tha Icoal authorities to see them prop erly treated en route for home:
