Regiment (London Sositish) was killed in action on July 1... Me, W. E. Jackson was a Shanghai boy, of about 19 years of age, and had been at school in England for some years prior to the outbreak of the war. Calcetts, July 18.— The Stow- ards of the Royal Calcatta Turf Clab bare decided that there' shall be three enclosures daring the forthcoming monsoon reces. In the first and second ́enclosures nine firme of bookmakers will attend. Nɔ bookmaker will be allowed in the third. Under the new rules of betting the first. enclosure bookmakers are not allowed to accept win bets on boreen for a sum less than Rs 30, They may take place beta pro- vided they are below Rs 30 and |that they are "accompanied by win bets of at least a like amount on the same borse. In the sesond enclosure place bets will not be allowed and the smallest win. bets will be for Rs. 5, These, rules, it is believed, will direct all small bets to the totalizators.
