Report of the Acting Attorney General on Ordinance No. 7 of 1872, entitled "An Ordinance made by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for registering Births and Deaths in Hongkong."
This Ordinance is founded on the Imperial Statute 6 and 7 Will. 4, c. 86, and so far as births and deaths are concerned closely follows that Act where its provisions are applicable to the local circumstances of the Colony.
Being however intended to apply to the whole Community, Chinese customs require modifications of the principle of the English enactment.
