January 6, 3.20 a.m. - Renter's correspondent at Malta states that the survivors of the Persis relate terrible experiences. After being torpedoed the Persia shivered and took a heavy list. Many of the boats were unable to get away and there was no time for panic. The beat in which was Lord Montage of Basulien contained two other passengers and eight of the crew of the Persis, of whom seven ware Lascara. They were absolutely lacking everything, even water. The boat was also with out cars and way tossed helplessly on the sea for thirty-one hours, the occupants being utterly exhausted when picked up. Lard Swatre.
