During the year 1914 there were 8,278 examinations în form vision by the British Board of Trade, and of the candidates 200 (or 24 per cent) failed to pass the test. Out of 4,168 candidates examined in colour vision 169 failed in the local examinations, 84 were refer- zed for special examination. OF the former 39 appealed for special examination, three of whom pas3- ed and 36 failed, while of those referred for special examination 22 passed, 33 filed (one in form vision), and nine were not specially examined before the end of the year.
