November 22, 11.00 p.m. Field Marshal Sir John French reports as follows: Our artillery during the past four days has carried out a most sfeclivo bombardment of many portions of the enemy's lines. The enemy's a. tillery has been active north of Loos, east of Armentieres and east of Ypres. A German seroplane landed in our lines on the 19:b inst. The pilot and observer were captured. The machine was undamaged.

AUSTRIANS SHOW NO MERCY TO ITALIANS
November 23, 3.50 m. That the Austrians are excelling their Gorman masters appears from an order found on the Italian front, the text of which is officially published in Bome. The order was issued to the 19th Honved Regiment, of whom a battalion was recruited in Fiume, and it sayı that soldiers of Italian nationality must be watched more closely and shot at the slightest attempt to desert. The severeat penalties are enjoined for the slightest fault, including tying to the wire on- tanglements. The Colonel concludes that he will not hesitate to shoot all Italian Honved regiments if necessary, as it is his duty to destroy euch besata.
