Far Eastern Freights, In connection with the increased. earnings of the liner, companies, a City merchant writes that he was the unfortunate possessor of certain goods shipped from Japan to Hamburg by the GermNE steamer Pransson, which took refuge at Sabang at the outbreak of war. Bejoined the body which, ander the suspices of the London Ohamber of Commerce, made an arrangement with the Germsm owners to get possession of their goods, and he duly obtained them, but he points out that, owing to the amount charged by one of the British lines for freight from Singapore to London, "it is quite evident that it would have paid me better if the goods had been pitched into the ees." Ha does not know yet what the cost will be of getting the cargo out of the Preassen, shipping it to Singapore, and potting "it" on board the British sleamer, but as the freight amounts to about two- thirds of the value of the good **there is not much doubt that the cost of getting the gooda is going to be well over 100 par cent. of their valce." The corres pondent adds that the normal rate-from Yokohams tą London, on those goods is 35%, per ton measurement, which still ruling by the Japanese line, and that the pressat abnormal rate charged by the British line for the same is 79z., while the rate for bringing these goods on from Singapore is 1018. per ton.
