Crop and Stock Returns.
The preliminary statement of the agricultural retorns for Eng- Inod and Wales, collreted in June last, iesued ou September 2 by the Board of Agriculture Fiaberiee, shows a decrease in the total area ander eropa and grass of 61,000 acres, of which 33,000 acres represen'a arable land and 28,000 acres permanent grase. Wheat shows an increase of 363,- 000 acres, or 20 per cent., as com- pared with last year, the 2,170,- under the cereal 000 cerea being the largest recorded since 1801, while the increase since 19.3 mounts to 469,000 acres, or nearly 28 per cent. Oate have also increased by 158,000 acres.
There increases of the two most important corn ertips have been obtained mainly by substituting the for barley, beaus, peas and ronta. Barley shows a decreano of 273,000 acre, bringing total under big crop to the lowest on cord.
