I should be glad if I your Lordship would allow reference to be made to Major Du Pane, Royal Engineers the Surveyor General of Prisons; under his advice. I should be satisfied that the Colony would obtain the best thing of its kind, with all the latest improvements. I may add, however, that it would be needless to send out anything but the iron work, as the wood work could be more cheaply executed in the Colony in accordance with the plan which would have to be transmitted.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient
humble servant,
Governor.
