ARTILLERY AND AVIATORS BUSY.

September 22, 5.15 p.m. Router's correspondent in Paria saya there have been intense outbursts of artillery on many points on the front including Belgium. Allied aviators bombarded the enemy's cantonments at Middelkerke and also a train between Bruges and Thoroat. Eight aeroplanes effectively bombarded the railway station at Couflage, between Verdun and Metz.

A Paris communique states that as a reprisa! for German kombardments of open towns and civilian populations in France and England a squadron of aeroplanes yesterday morning bamb. orded Stuttgart and dropped thirty shells on the Royal Palace and the station. The aeroplanes were cannonaded at different point: on their long journey but returned to their base uninjured.

ENEMY EVACUATES A FORTIFIED POST.

September 23, 1.40 s.m.

A Parle communique states that artillery motivity continues undiminished along the whole front. A violent bombardment north of the Aisne compelled the enemy to evacuate a fortified post, which we occupied. An enemy patrol which attacked our lines at Champagne was completely destroyed.

GERM‹N DESCRIPTION OF THE RAID,

September 23, 3.55 a.m. Renter's correspondent at Amsterdam reports that the official German accpant of the Stuttgart raid says that enemy airmen with German marks on their machines attacked Stuttgart at 8.15 in the morning, and dropped bombs on the town, killing four persona and wounding a number of soldiers and civiliars. The damage to property is insignificant. The airmen were onnonaded, and dis appeared southward at 8.30. The military authorities half an hour before the raid were notified of the approach of a German airman,
