4. ...some amount would be calculated for eighteen years, say, at the rate of £400 (~ $1920) per annum. Subject, therefore, to Your Lordships' approval, I have, with the advice of the Council, sanctioned the payment of a Pension at the above rate to Mr Parradas..
6. The case, however, was in the opinion of the Council, as evidenced by the reduction made, worthy of favourable consideration beyond what I had power to entertain. During nearly nineteen years, Mr Barradas' Service had been "decidedly faithful and meritorious." Through no fault of his own, as shown in Inclosure No 3, dated 26 June 1872, he has been prevented from continuing to hold his office, and is in such a state of health that he can no longer work to support a very large family entirely dependent on himself.
7. Taking into consideration, therefore, the length of his good and faithful Service, and the fact that sickness alone has caused his retirement from the post which he filled to the entire satisfaction of the Government, I beg to recommend the Resolution of the Council to your Lordship with a view to such a Pension being granted to Mr Barradas.
