of the Coins are under that weight in a greater or less degree. The result is that although there light Coins are taken by artisans who receive their wages and small Salaries monthly as of full value, they find when they come to spend them that objections are raised by the Shopkeepers, and money changers, to the Coins not being of full value, and the unfortunate holders to whom any loss at all is a serious consideration are often mulcted five per cent.
By Charter Section 12) we are empowered with Your Excellency's sanction to issue Notes of One Dollar each, and my Directors are agreeable to undertake such an issue as it will in their opinion be a good, and a public measure, remedying the evils now described.
