The Norwegian mailboat Venu?, which has arrived at New castle, reports that midway on the voyage she was hailed by a sub- marine and ordered to throw overboard most of the cargo consist- ing of provisiona, the remainder, which was chiefly wood being
allowed to remain.
The matter was given the choice of jettisoning foodstuffs or sinking the ship..
