I beg to invite His Excellency's attention to the fact that although I have been many years in the service of the Colony, I am the only Officer of any position in it who has not had the privilege of augmenting his pay by receiving an Acting appointment in addition to his permanent one, the only conceivable reason I can assume for this overlooking of my services is that, being responsible to admit of my being removed from them.
I also wish to bring to the notice of His Excellency that the Law Officers, Registrar of Supreme Court, and Colonial Surgeon are allowed to receive fees, and, with the exception of the Registrar, to practise privately, Surveyor General and other Officers who at one time received private fees have in lieu thereof...
