Following as the meeting did so closely upon a period of political exuitement in Chins, and beld too, in a city, where hostility to Japan has been most pro nounced, it must be regarded as a.specially noteworthy feature of the meeting that many Japanese were among the successful com- petitors, and their successes were received in a tine sporting spirit. Neverthelesa the lists of results show that the Chinese competitors on the whole have done exceedingly well, and Mr. Chengting Wang is justified on the showing of the meeting in bia belief that the time is not far distant when the nations of the Orient will bo able to send com- reting athletes to the Internation- il Olympic Games. when held in Europe or America; but when he adds that Chins will look forward bopefully to the day, when the In- ternational Olympic Games may be held in the Far East we fear he is looking a very long way ahead at least beyond the day of the present generation athletes.
