The extreme E. corner is 470 feet. Extreme height of the roof of the Clock Hospital (see plan 1) is 161 feet above the floor of the lower Verandah is 107 feet.

The top of the Roof of the East Berlin Foundling House on the same side is 217 feet above the sea.

The site is, as will be seen by the levels, very sidelong, and is covered with large boulders of granite, which will require blasting to remove them. A quantity of Rubble stone for foundations thus be obtained on the spot, but the smaller the amount of cutting out for foundations the better.

From October to May the prevailing wind is North Easterly. From May to October the reverse, viz: South Westerly. This latter is the prevailing wind in Japan.

A rainfall of 6 inches in 12 hours has been known here, and waterways should be made sufficiently large to accommodate such, or even slightly larger falls.
