The gratuity to Mr. Reed was part of the vote from Imperial Funds for the building of
The Shroffs.
The fee to Dr. Auchanan would be some extra Hong Kong Funds.
The "Shroffs" having been built with Imperial
money, it was within the scope of Medical Employment to see that the money voted has been advantageously expended.
