The Chairman:As it is past the time for which this meeting has been called, and there is quorum present, I will ask the Secretary to read the notice con- vening the meeting.

The Secretary having read the

notice,

The Chairman said:- Gentlemen, The report and accounts, with the auditore' re- port, having been in your hands for Bome time, I will, with your permission, take them as read. Since our last annual general meeting, on April 6th, 1014, an extraordinary general meeting of the Company was held on June 4th, for the purpose of passing certain resolutions to enable us to take over the Oriental Ice Syndicate and to admit of increasing our abare capital for that purpose. All the resolutions were uDanimously passed and confirmed at a later meeting held on June 23rd:

"Mr. President," he said, "if there ever was an example of a failure on the part of a legislative body to do its full duty to the country it represents, you find it bere in what is being done in this naval bill by cutting out the system of elimination and sab- stituting nothing for it, leaving

a

lot of men'in 'command whom a former President of the United States once described to me as a lot of wheezy, onion-eyed, old, staffed puddings.

"If we were to do here what we ought to do-it is too late to do it it is too late to do our duty. We have been kept here day, and night discussing and wearing out the strength of every one over an ill-considered, ill-conceived, ball, baked, foolish attempt to put the Government into the shipping business, and we are neglecting our plain duty as legislatora."..

The result of the amalgamation, as you will note from the report, hae been that our income from eales of ics and cold storage charges for the year, amounts to $60,054.71,asagainst $39,020.24 in 1913. The ammunition only came in the nick of time. The increase of seven in their rank enabled the

heroes to beat off the assault, which was made on them, and the position was saved.

The correspondent mentions that in one portion of the battle ground-in soms brickfields--
