Starter.—Mr. H. J. Gadge: Second Starter Mr. Paul M. Hodgson.

Time Keeper.-Mr M. 8. 815000. Hon. Treasurer.--Me A. C. Hynes.

Clerk of the Course.-Mr T. F. Hoogb.

Yesterday was very favourable. We repaleed sharp counter-Stakes. Wincer $600. Second attacks, sometime with the bayonet, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy; we kept all our positions.

In Lorraine we captured the village of Norroy; a quiet night. There were rather sharp artillery fights in the Aisne valley and the region of Rheims. In the Vosges we repulsed two infantry allacks, and kept and strengthened all capturad positions.

A Distinction Abolished.

General Joffre's order of the day dosa away with the denomina tion of "reserve" troops; it says that, after six months' brilliant. campaign, all corps have shown themselves, worthy of bearing the one denomination of "active army."

A German submarias torpedoed the French steamer Dinoras off Dieppe; the Dinoras was able to get into port..

Germany has expressed to Switzerland her regrets on account of a German aviator's having flown over Swise territory.

Many German Repulses."

(British Foreign Offies Telegram, vie Peking).

Feb, 20, 10 p.m.

On the 18th, in the region of Arras, the Germans attacked five times; trying to recapture trenobes which they had lost on the 17th; they were repulsad, leaving several hundred dead on the fisid, in- cfading several officers. Similar Garman attempts in Champagne were repulsed with the bayonet. In the regions of Sonsin, Perthes and Beausejour, the French troops maintained their gains, captured five msobine guns and made several hundred prisoners, who declare that the German regiments engaged suffered serious losses; some

lost half of their numbers.

The French kept their gains of the 17th at Eparges (heights of the Meuse). In Larraise they captured the village of Norroy which, contrary to the German communique, was not evacuated, but from which the Germans were expelled.

In Alasco, the height sonth of Sudelle farm, conquered by the French on the 17th, was constituting a formidable redoubt, where we captured one bomb-thrower, fire machine guns, bundreds of rifles, shields and a quantity of war material and ammunition.

[Renter's Service to The Telegraph."]

Enemy's Counter-Attack Brilliantly Repulsed.

Feb. 22, 1.10 a.w. A Paris evening communique saya that, from the sea to the Aisne, there has been an intermittent cannonade. In Obampagne an enemy counter-attack was brilliantly repulsed, and was followed by a vigorous pursuit, whereby we captured all the German trenches north and east of the wood captured yesterday.

Further Captures by Allies,"

Elsewhere along the front, continues the communique, two German counter-attacks were repulsed, and we made fresh progress, particularly north of Meanil. Wo captured. two mitrailleuses and a hundred prisoners.

German Attack Completely Fails.

The enemy delivered a seventh counter attack at Les Eparges, "In order to recapture the positions which we had won during the

last two days; but it failed completely,
