incorrect.
Moreover the reports, which
did reach Government House,
as well
as most other Houses in the Colony
- that there is a
legitimate
Madame Chopra, but that the lady
introduced
as such in society
here is not that person.
Your opposition
to that rumour,
personal denial, and have published it in the local journals. Whatever be the weight
of that denial, the Governor
neither add to nor
subtract from it,
is not called
to do so.
His Excellency is glad that you
have given
such unqualified contradiction to the rumour. It will also afford the Governor great satisfaction to ascertain from independent sources
that there is not the slightest foundation
for so improbable a report.
