I have laid before the Governor your letter of Saturday the 6th Instant,
stating "that at Government House it had been reported that Mr Checa is not your legitimate wife,
legitimate wife, and that such rumours had been freely circulated in the society of this Colony."
I am requested to inform you that if by the above language you imply that such report either originated with Don Leon Checa, Spanish Consul, Hong Kong...
