French Wireless Lighthouses.

The French Government in taking me sures to set up wireless lighthouses along the coast, and, na is customary for ordinary light hauess, och station senda out flashes every few seconds along with characteristic signal. Automatic sending apparatus is used for the purpose, ond it will ran for thirty hours at a time, The port of Havre; int be equipped shortly with two such lighthouses, N.Y.K. Boats and the Philippines.

Beginning with the liner Nikko Main on January 19, all the Japanese steamers of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha line bound to and from Australias poris will stop st Zamboanga for passengers and esgo. The announcement of the now change was made recently by Warner Barnes & Co., the Macila agents for the big Japan- eso ateamship compacy. This will mean, says the Cablenews, that at least once a month passengers bound from Manila to Z mboinga or vice veran will be able to travel on one of the big liners of this com pany. Lloyd's Register Scholarship.

It is satisfactory to report that the 14 scholarships granted by Lloyd's Register for the study of Naval Architecture and. Marine. Engineering. are much appre sinted, and that there is great competion for these scholarships, which are distributed as follows: -3 in Naval Architecture at the Daivereity of Glasgow; 3 in Naval Architecture, and 3 in Marine Engineering, at Armstrong College, Newcastle on-Tyne; 3 in Naval Architecture at the Univeraity of Liverpool; and 2 in Marine Engineering in connection with the Institute of Marine En- gineers.
