The Siam and Au nem, which were built for the Com→ peny in 1913, also have 8 cylinders per shaft, each 28 in. diameter by 313 in. stroke, the power being 3,000 per vessel. The Fioni, one of the company's lalect vessels, has 6 cylinders per shaft,

These are up to the present the largest cylinders which have been used for Diesel enginesof merchant ships. Amongst other owners of classed vessels fitted with Diesel engines are the Nederlandsch Indische Tankstoomboot Masts,, who have six in service, the largest of which has a tonnage of 3,803 tons, with engines of 1,700: i.b.p.; the Rederi Aktiebolaget Nordstjernen, who have four vessels, each of 3,700 tona, in service, and two of the same size being built, the indicated horse power in each case being 2,000; (Continued on page 9.)
