New York Flooded.

New York, December 8-An unprecedented storm has swept over the Atlantic coast, destroying whole villages and towns and ilo- ing irreparable damage in the larger cities and ports, The whole of lower New York is food- ed and the gay amusement parks at Coney Island and Brighton Beach have been friotically effaced by the force of the atorm sweeping in from the open sea. Reports coming from all along the const indicate that hundreda of ships have foun lered and even in the most secure harbours the shipping hus suffered heavily, The storm in the worita memory and the force of the wind. has been in but few instances equalled. The force of the storm has been folt wäret along the coast of the New England and Middle Atlantie.states. The New Jersey coast auffered heavily, the small villages being exposed to the direct sweep of both the wind and water rolling from the At lantic. In New York city the. storm assumed proportions of a emall tidal wave. The whole

lower part of the city from the Battery for several blocks north was flooded: At Coney Island and Brighton Beach the flimsy stractures housing the amusement' places were completely destroyed by the storm.-Cablenews.
