Zealand; the reason for this is. explained by the fact that up till a few months ago residus oil stood at a very high figure on the British merket. Of late, however, wehave witnessed a considerable drop in the price of the commodity, hence at the present time there is con siderable inducement to build hot bulb cargo carrying vessele för the home trade service. For some little time the war will certainly hold back to some extent the building of motor driven cargo carrying vessels for British owners but once we get near the end of hostilities, unless the price of fael oil and the European markets again rise (which we may say is far from likely), there is every possibility that there will be more heavy oil engined industrial vessels built in Britain for home watera thanare built for service in other countries. One. of the latest vessels to be completed in Britain for service abroad is the Fort York, a sister ship to the Fort Churchill sent out under her own power to North America towarda, the end of last year. The Fort York is 80ft. in longth 211. beam, and carries 100 tons
