Temperance in Sind.

Karachi, October 26th.

At the Indian Tempérance Con ference, attended by delegates | from various parts, the following resolutions were passed:That the Government be requested to insert lessons on abstinence from intoxicauts in the text books for Sindhi and English'schools. That the Government be requested to provide each school with a magic lantern and some selected plates showing the evil effects of in- toxicante. This Conference strong- ly condemns the use of intoxicanta on the occasion of marriages etc. This Conference condemns the use. of any kind of intoxicants and ex- presses a bope that the subject will be dealt with in lectures 810. by the public. This Conference resolves that the different pan- chayets should be made to interest themselves in the subject, who should disallow the performances of any religious ceremonies by Llavas or Brahmang who were not total abstainers. All the pro- ceedings were conducted Sindhi.
