Hainan Affairs. The N. China Daily News' Hainan correspondent writes on October 19:-The typhoon season seems to have passed, and Hainan has been fortunate in not having had one typhoon this year. It is reported that Hainsa's portion of the Presidential loan in $1,000,- 000 1,000 soldiers are said to have arrived at Hoihow. Of these 400 have been sent to Kachek, the largest market town in the Island. They are accompanied by a brass bend playing military music, and mate a fine appearance in their neat tan-coloured uniforme, The country seems to be perfectly quiet, but we are told the soldiera have come to protect the Island.
