GENERAL News.
Unemployment Decreasing. The Board of Trade has issuod a statement that in the trades compulsorily insured against on- employment the percentage of unemployment on September 11 was 6.05. This shows a decrease of .23 on the porosutage for Söp- tember 4, and is the first decrease recorded sians the beginning of the war. As regarde the upin- sured trades, the number of men and women on the register of the labour exchanges at September 11 was 68,113, as compared with 73,075 a week, ngu. For men alone the corresponding ügures were 31,505 and 40,237. For women they were 34,518 and 33,438. The decrease, which is confined to men, is no doubt largely due to the progress of recruiting.
