As it is, the Helicon is thousands of toiles from her de- stination, and cefore she reaches Chili-ahould it be deemed ud- visable to send her there-she' will have circumnavigated the globe. Capt. Christenson, who is feeling the effects of a long battle against adverse weather and anxiety for his ship and crew, informed a reporter on Sunday that nothing but a sucÛ68- sion of galea buffeted the Helicon from the time she left the English Chancel until she was in the meridian of Cape Leeuwin. The |south-east trades were exception- ally fierce, and it was off the coast of South America that several sails were lost. Capt. Christenssa Iound it impossible to weather Cape Horu as he had intende i, and was obliged to square away across the South Atlantic Ocean' and go

"east about." Galos followed gales until the Australian. coast was approached, and by that time the larder had become low, and the stock of water short. This state of affairs compelled the captain to bear up for Port Adelaide, and much to the "reliof of the crew, the anchorage was reached in safety. Capt. Chris- tensen is undecided what course to adopt. There is an element of risk in continuing the voyaga: with coal which has been under hatches for such a long period: and that aspect will have to be considered. A
