But that rule is certainly subject to the limitation imposed by
the special circumstances which must occasionally call for exceptional remedies.
As to the present case, I am somewhat encouraged by
the admission of finding in the English papers - just brought by the French Mail, that a Bill for the amendment of the Law of Evidence containing clauses for the examination and cross-examination of prisoners, has been laid before Parliament.
