STEAMSHIP CO stanceThe recent increase of vessels registered in the Kwan- tung Lassed Territory "has Sailing date. necessitated the Dairen Marine Association, at whose hands all these vessels have to be over- hauled and otherwise looked after, to engage a Lloyd surveyor. The bulk of these vessels were purchased from abroad, and for this reason they must go through the prescribed routine of survey- ing by a Lloyd's agent after being inspooled by the Dairen Marine Association. In order to remove this inconvenience, the Associa tion has come to a decision lo engages Lloyd surveyor specially attached thereto and asked Mr.. G. P. Paton, British Consul at Nagasaki and formerly at Dairen, for the engagement of a com- potent aurveyor. An answer wAS to hand from the British Consul in which he recommended Mr. S. H.
