Indian Labour.
Not long ago a good deal was heard of the anggestion that the Sudan might be used as an outlet for superfluous Indian labour, since when the Indian papera have published considerablo evidence to refute this theory of an over-crowded labour market. The following is an extract from the Administration Report of the Central Provinces. During the year under review. "Wages again ruled very high, and complaints of the difficulty of recruiting labour at reasonable rates were general. The year has seen the labourer maintain, and even improve, his position; in every feld it is he who has the upper hand, while the employer has had to compete for his services." With regard to labuur emigration, 4,680 recruiting agents only succeeded in recruiting 4,986 coolies-United Empire.
