Several of the Crown Agents had been authorized to pay Agents the amount of my Imperial and Colonial half Salary as Governor-in-Chief of the West Africa Settlements from the 17th January to the 29th February, 1872, inclusively.
I beg to offer my grateful thanks for this mark of your Lordship's kind consideration.
Your Lordship is correct in assuming that I drew my full Colonial Salary up to the day of my Embarkation from Sierra Leone on the 16th January, 1872.
