largest liner, has been reached by the placing in position the last of the four huge funnels. Extensive properations bad, to be made for hoisting the funnel and lowering it into position. Several hun drad men were employed in the operatione, including a large body of engineers and rivolters, wait- ing on the ship to secure the massive structure. It was lifted by the 150 ton orane, and the gangways had to be taken obtain the proper adjustment all

away. The width of the funnel fure and aft is 24ft., or as largo as a railway tunnel. The top is over 181ft above the keel, or, t make another comparison, would extend over 20ft, above the Neleon column in Trafalgar Square. Each funnel, with ita section of uptakes and boilers, weighs 150 tons, and the total for the four funnels-6,000 tons

will convey soms idea to massive proportions and extent of the machinery necessary to propel the world's premier liner.

She has a loading capacity of 850 tons, and will have a speed of nine knots, and is intended for passenger and cargo service in the Dutch East Indies.

'New Arrangement,

· Commencing from March 11, the first-clase return tiokata between Shanghai, Tsingtau, Cheloo, and Tiantain and vice- || veres have been made inter- changeable with the steamera of of the Hamburg-Amerika Linie Messrs. Jardine, Matheson & Co... and Mesare. Butterfield & Swire, New Fish Dock, Tenders are about to be invited for the construction of the "new" fish dook at Grimsby. The so- commodation provided at the two existing docks, which have a dom- bined water area of 20 acres, has for some time past; been insuf- ficient for the needs of the 650 steam trawlers and herring boatë) which supply the fort with fish. Nor are the market facilities com. mensurate with the growing trade Hence the decision of the Great Central Railway to provide an entirely new fieb dook and to reconstruct and extend the fich market.
