Zaida was lying at anchor in Carlingford Lough in the early morning of August 27 last, her starboard bow was struck by the stem of the com-t pany's steamer Greezore, bound from Holyhead, with passengers. and maile. It was alleged that the Zaida saw her a mile off, the weather being fine and clear, and that she was negligently navigat ed. Lord Rosebery's yacht.sus- tained serious damage. The defence was that the mail steamer slowed down when spproaching the harbour, and that the Zsida was obstructing the navigation. more than the master of the Greenore" reckoned. It was fur- ther pleaded that he did his best to make the sweep necessary on an ebb tide and pass under the Zaida's stern. The cause of the scoident, it was main- tained, was the anchoring of the yacht in an improper place, . notwithstanding a warning from the harbour master. The harbour- maater gave evidence that he warned the officers of the Zaida that she was anchored in a dangerous position, being in the, way of other vessels. They did not, he said, take any notice of his request that she should be moved higher up

In oross-examination he admit ted that he had refused to give. Lord Rosebery's solicitor informa tion, and that one of the barbour commissioners

was a marine superintendent in the service of, the company. The verdict was given in Lord Rosebery's favour.
